Aberdeen FC draw 1-1 at Hibernian to maintain away form

Aberdeen FC collected a valuable Premiership point with a 1-1 draw away to Hibernian. Kevin Nisbet’s first-half goal was cancelled out by a Martin Boyle penalty in a match that manager Stephen Robinson called a "solid week of football on the road."

The Dons took the lead in the 17th minute. Nisbet found the net for his third goal of the season, finishing an assist from Gavin Molloy. The striker had earlier scored in the 4-0 win at Motherwell and now leads the club's scoring charts.

Hibernian, under caretaker boss John Potter, equalised just after the hour mark. Jack Milne conceded a penalty with a foul and Boyle converted from the spot. Milne was later substituted as Robinson reshuffled his defence, bringing on Briedl and Happe for the final ten minutes.

Key moments and changes

Aberdeen controlled spells of the first half but could not add to their lead. Nisbet received a yellow card in the 33rd minute and later lifted a shot over the bar. Hibernian made five changes from their previous match and lost Jamie McGrath to a warm-up injury, but Chris Cadden started on his 30th birthday.

After the penalty, both teams pushed for a winner. Aberdeen’s Passlack headed a free-kick wide from close range, while at the other end, Mats produced a key block in the 89th minute. The Dons made several substitutions, with Stuart Armstrong replacing Ronan before the hour and Mouloua coming on for Olusanya.

Robinson was without the injured Lewis Mayo, so Jack Milne started in central defence. Hicham Mahou was named in a matchday squad for the first time. The attendance at Easter Road was 17,899.

Where it leaves Aberdeen

The point means Aberdeen remain seventh in the Premiership, with eight points from seven games. Their recent form shows one win, three draws and one loss from the last five outings. They are ten points behind leaders Celtic.

"The Dons completed a solid week of football on the road by collecting a point in a tight encounter at Easter Road," Robinson said. He added that it was "a fair result in the end."

Aberdeen’s next fixture is at home to St Johnstone on October 11. The team has scored seven goals and conceded eight so far this campaign.
