Aberdeen FC can inflict a seventh consecutive home defeat on Hibernian this weekend, a feat only two clubs have managed in Scotland's top flight this century. The Dons head to Easter Road buoyed by a 4-0 victory at Motherwell, where they matched their goal tally from the previous seven league matches combined.
That result at Fir Park also gave Aberdeen back-to-back Premiership clean sheets for the first time since May 2024. A third straight shutout would mark a significant defensive milestone for the side currently sitting 7th in the standings with eight points from seven games, a position they will be keen to improve upon.
Hibs sacked head coach David Gray in midweek and are mired in a dismal run of six straight home losses. Only Ross County in 2014 and Dundee in 2018 have lost seven in a row at home in the 21st century. Despite this, Hibs have a strong historical record against Aberdeen at Easter Road, losing just once in their last ten league meetings there. That solitary defeat was a heavy 4-0 reversal in May 2024.
Aberdeen won the most recent encounter 2-0 in April. Another victory would give them back-to-back league wins over Hibs for the first time since a run of three in November 2020. The two sides are the oldest in the Premiership this season, with Hibs' average starting XI at 26 years and 325 days, just a year younger than Aberdeen's. The Dons' top scorer Kevin Nisbet, who has three goals this term according to the club's stats page, netted in the recent 1-1 draw between the teams on 19 September. Aberdeen's next match, is at home to St Johnstone on 11 October.
