Stephen Robinson has confirmed Mats Knoester is back in contention and hinted at imminent transfer moves ahead of Aberdeen's home match against Rangers. The manager addressed the media on Thursday, providing a squad update and outlining his focus for the weekend's Premiership fixture.

Knoester has recovered from an injury picked up against Dundee and is now available for selection after training consistently for several weeks. "He's certainly a very good option for us again," Robinson said. The defender played 45 minutes in a recent bounce game and a decision on his matchday involvement will be made in the next two days.

Squad fitness

Robinson reported a largely clean bill of health for his squad. The long-term absentees, Emmanuel Gyamfi and Kristers Tobers, continue their rehabilitation and are not yet ready. Brad Lyons, who suffered an injury recently, is expected to return to action within a few weeks and is already back on his feet.

"Everyone's fit and available," Robinson stated. "No real injury concerns, any new injury concerns anyway." The manager emphasised the importance of having players on the bench who are ready to contribute fully, saying they must be prepared to play 90 minutes if called upon early.

Transfer window activity

With the transfer window closing soon, Robinson indicated that business is ongoing behind the scenes. He confirmed that sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel and the recruitment team are working on deals, with some players potentially departing.

"We're hoping that a couple of things will go through in the next two or three days," Robinson revealed. He also acknowledged that forward Kusini Yengi is one player close to securing a move away from Pittodrie. Fans can track the latest squad movements on the club's official squad page.

Focus on home form

Robinson stressed the importance of focusing on Aberdeen's own performance as they seek a positive result against Rangers. He pointed to the opening day victory over Hearts at Pittodrie as a blueprint, aiming to build momentum with another home win.

"It's another home game that we want to get three points," he said. "We have to make it very much about ourselves, how we approach the game with positivity." He acknowledged the challenge Rangers always present, stating his team must be at their best to win.

The manager also praised the impact of Toyosi Olusanya, highlighting the forward's speed, strength, and work rate. "He affects every game that he plays in," Robinson said of the attacker, who has been involved in several goal contributions this season.

Aberdeen have used the recent break for extra training sessions and a practice match to maintain sharpness. Robinson believes his side, which has integrated 13 new players this season, is still improving. The full fixture list, including this Sunday's match, is available on the club's fixtures schedule. The game kicks off at Pittodrie with the Dons looking to add to their points tally in the Scottish Premiership standings.
