Duncan Nicolson has been confirmed as the referee for Aberdeen FC's upcoming Premiership match against Hibernian. The fixture at Pittodrie Stadium is scheduled for a 5.45pm kick-off on Saturday, November 7.

Nicolson will be assisted by linesmen Graeme Stewart and Christopher Gentles. Grant Irvine will be the assistant VAR official, with Kevin Clancy as the lead video assistant referee. Jamie Wilkie completes the officiating team as the fourth official.

Nicolson's recent appointments

This will be Nicolson's third match involving Hibernian in the last two seasons. He previously took charge of their 2-0 league defeat to Motherwell in November 2025 and their 1-0 League Cup victory over Partick Thistle this past August.

The appointment comes as Aberdeen, 10th in the Premiership with 11 points from 11 games, seek to halt a slide in form. They have lost their last three league matches, most recently a 1-0 defeat away to Rangers on Saturday 31 October. This result was part of a difficult run of one win and four losses in their last five fixtures. Their season record stands at three wins and two draws from their 11 games, having scored 12 goals and conceded 14. This leaves them 17 points adrift of league leaders Celtic. Their next opponents, Hibernian, sit 12th in the table, just one point and two places below the Dons. The sides last met in September, playing out a 1-1 draw at Easter Road.

With both teams separated by a single point, Saturday's match carries significant weight in the lower half of the table. Aberdeen's top scorer this season is Kevin Nisbet, who has netted four goals in 11 appearances. The Dons will be aiming to improve a recent record that shows just one win in their last five outings. That sole victory was a 3-1 win over St Mirren on Saturday 17 October, preceded by a 4-1 win at Dunfermline on Saturday 3 October. The confirmed officials will oversee a key 90 minutes at Pittodrie this weekend.
