Aberdeen FC midfielder Dante Polvara has officially completed his transfer to Major League Soccer (MLS) side St. Louis CITY SC. The 25-year-old American departs the Scottish Premiership club to embark on a new chapter in the United States, with the move announced on Friday.

Polvara has signed a contract with St. Louis CITY SC through the 2027-2028 season, with an option for the 2028-2029 campaign. To facilitate the deal, St. Louis sent up to $150,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) to New York City FC for Polvara's Right of First Refusal. This included $50,000 in 2026 GAM and an additional $100,000 in conditional GAM. Furthermore, NYCFC will retain a percentage of any potential future transfer or trade involving the player.

St. Louis CITY SC Sporting Director Corey Wray expressed his enthusiasm for the new signing. "We’re excited to bring Dante to St. Louis and believe he will add quality and competition to our group," Wray stated. He highlighted Polvara's versatility, noting, "He is a versatile player who can impact games in both defense and in midfield, and at 6-foot-4, he brings an imposing physical presence while still being technically clean on the ball." Wray also acknowledged Polvara's experience, adding, "He’s still young but has gained valuable experience from Scotland and European competition, which will help him contribute right away.”

During his tenure with Aberdeen FC, Polvara made 93 appearances across all competitions since his professional debut in 2022, contributing 6 goals and 7 assists. The midfielder was part of the squad that helped lead the club to the Scottish Cup title last season, gaining significant experience in the Scottish Premiership.

Before his move to Aberdeen FC, Polvara was a product of the New York City FC academy. He gained significant recognition during his collegiate career at Georgetown University, where he won the prestigious MAC Hermann Trophy in 2021, awarded to the nation's top college player.

St. Louis CITY SC is preparing to kick off their 2026 MLS season on February 21. Under new head coach Yoann Damet, the club will host Charlotte FC at Energizer Park, with the match scheduled for 2:30 pm ET and available on Apple TV. Polvara is expected to integrate quickly into the squad as they prepare for the upcoming campaign.
