Aberdeen FC secured a 4-1 victory over Dunfermline Athletic in a pre-season friendly at East End Park on Saturday. The win, built on goals from Jack Milne, a brace from Ayoub Mouloua and a late strike from Lewis Smith, provided a useful workout ahead of the return to Premiership action.
Stephen Robinson made eight changes at the interval, introducing Mouloua and Smith among others. Milne had opened the scoring in the 22nd minute before Keith Bray equalised for the hosts just before half-time. Mouloua restored the lead shortly after the restart and added a second on the hour mark, with Smith completing the scoring in the 82nd minute.
New signing Daniel Klein was handed his first start in goal and made several important saves, including a double stop early on. The match allowed Robinson to assess his options, with the likes of Stuart Armstrong and Nicky Devlin also featuring in the second half. The manager described it as "a very good workout for the Dons with a lot of positives ahead of the St Johnstone game next weekend."
The result extends Aberdeen's unbeaten run in all matches to five games. This recent form includes three wins and two draws, building momentum as they prepare for the league's resumption. They currently sit seventh in the Premiership with eight points from their opening seven matches, a position they will aim to improve upon. Their next fixture is a key league encounter at home to St Johnstone on October 11.
